Personal Fitness Physical Education course Improve Physical Fitness
Improve health Personal Fitness is a high school level physical education course designed to increase student knowledge and activity levels in order to improve the student’s level of physical fitness in each of the 5 components flexibility, cardiovascular endurance, muscular strength, muscular endurance, and body composition. This class makes no assumption about students fitness level coming in and there is no mandatory level of fitness for passing. The goal is to provide the student with the tools he or she needs in order to achieve and maintain a personal health throughout life.

How is this class different from other classes?
Not Prescriptive (No pretests) Requires that you engage in physical activity Links to websites Discussions Projects This class is a little different than your other Gradpoint classes in that it is not prescriptive. In other words there is no pretests. Also, this course does require you to engage in physical activities. While navigating this course you will be required to visit websites outside of the Gradpoint system, as well as completing projects and engaging in online discussion boards.

Navigation Click On Module on the left side of screen.
Navigation of the Personal Fitness course is different than other Gradpoint courses also. Because it is not prescriptive you are allowed to open any folder at any time. I still recommend that you start with Module one and work your way through module 8. After clicking on the module navigate using the “Forward and “Backward” arrows on the left side of the viewing pane. On some pages you may have to scroll down in order to see these arrows. Navigate by using Forward and Previous arrows on left side of viewing window

Study Guide The study can be found in the “Personal Fitness” folder above the Module One folder Fill information on the sheets Use on Quizzes and Tests In order to help you find information in this course, I have created a Personal Fitness Study guide which can be found in the “Personal Fitness” Folder above the Module one folder on the left side of your screen. You can open and print the file. Complete the study guide by filling in the blanks and answering the questions. You are allowed to use this study guide on all quizzes as well as your final exam.

Fitness Testing You will be testing your self in the five components of Physical Fitness This testing will occur 3 times during the class You will set your own goal for improvement based on the results of your first test 3 times during this course you will be assessing yourself in all five components of physical fitness. After the first test you will set goals for your next assessment. As you navigate through the course you will develop workout plans to improve your score in each component.

Activity Logs You will develop your own Activity program
You will complete three workouts for each module of the class The first 2 workouts will be flexibility only Other components will be added later As you complete your plan you will log each workout. You must engage in three workouts for each module of the course. The first 2 will only involve flexibility exercises. You will add other components of physical fitness to your workout as you get further into the course.

Assignments Written assignments, essays, and projects assigned throughout the course To Submit: Open the module folder Click on Assignments and assessments Click on the assignment you completed Click “Open” bottom right of screen Attach the assignment and submit Various assignments and projects will be given during the course. These assignments will be described and any supplementary files will be given in the content area. After you have completed the work save as a word document or RTF file and submit in the assignments and assessments folder at the bottom of the module folder.

Discussion Posts Click on folder Discussions
Click on the Discussion for the section you are on Click on new thread Add your reply to the questions and click post This course also has a few online discussion questions. To complete these click on the discussions folder at the bottom of the module folder. Click on the discussion for the section of the folder on which you are currently working. Click the new thread button at the top of the page. You may offer a brief description in the title box. You may type your answers directly into the Description box or copy and paste them from a word document. Either way, please make sure that you have fully answered all questions. Also, check your grammar and spelling. Finally click the “Post” button to submit your post.

Quizzes Open the module folder Click on “Assignments and Assessments”
Click on the quiz you are prepared to complete Click “start” When you have answered all of the questions click “Submit” During the course you will also be instructed to take quizzes. To take a quiz, click on the assignments and assessment folder for the module you are currently working on. Look for the little blue question mark button next to the section number you are just completed. Click start. Answer all of the questions and submit. Remember, you are allowed to use your study guide or any other notes that you have completed on all assessments.
