Serebrykova Zinaida Yevgenyevna ( ) was the first female Russian painter of distinction.

She was born in estate
Neskuchnoye near Kharkov.

9. Biography
She belonged to the artistic family of Lanceray. Her grandfather was an architect, her uncle was a famous painter, her father was a well-known sculptor.

In 1900 she graduated from women’s gymnasium and entered the art school founded by princess Tenisheva.

In she travelled to Italy. In she studied at Academe de la Grande Chaumiere in Paris.

In 1911 she joined the Mir iskusstve movement.

In she was in her prime. During these years she produced a series of pictures on the theme of Russian rural life.

Zinaida travelled a great deal. In 1928 and 1930 she travels to Africa, visiting Morocco.

On September 19, 1967 she died in Paris.
