Ezekiel Lessons 20 – Ezekiel 37
Israel’s Rebirth Portrayed in the Valley of Dry Bones (37:1-14) Ezekiel is taken in a vision to a valley of dry bones. He declares that God knows if the bones can live again (37:1-3) Ezekiel is told to prophesy God’s words to the bones: “I will cause breath to enter you and you shall live” (37:4-6) Ezekiel prophesies as commanded and the bones live! (37:7-10) The bones represent hope for “the whole house of Israel” (37:11) By the Spirit of God, the house of Israel would be brought back to life and brought into the land (37:12-14) Contrary to the premillennialists, this has occurred! (Jer. 29:10-14; Neh. 1:8-10; see also 12:30; 10:28-29; 9:36; 6:15-16) Jeremiah 29:10-14 For thus says the LORD: After seventy years are completed at Babylon, I will visit you and perform My good word toward you, and cause you to return to this place. 11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. 12 Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. 13 And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart. 14 I will be found by you, says the LORD, and I will bring you back from your captivity; I will gather you from all the nations and from all the places where I have driven you, says the LORD, and I will bring you to the place from which I cause you to be carried away captive. Nehemiah 1:8-10 Remember, I pray, the word that You commanded Your servant Moses, saying, 'If you are unfaithful, I will scatter you among the nations; 9 but if you return to Me, and keep My commandments and do them, though some of you were cast out to the farthest part of the heavens, yet I will gather them from there, and bring them to the place which I have chosen as a dwelling for My name.' 10 Now these are Your servants and Your people, whom You have redeemed by Your great power, and by Your strong hand.

Ezekiel Lessons 20 – Ezekiel 37
Israel and Judah will be United as One Ezekiel is told to take two sticks representing Judah and Israel and join them together as one in his hand (37:15-17) Ezekiel explains to the children of Israel that God will thus take Judah and Israel from the lands of captivity and unite them into one kingdom in their own land (37:16-22; Jer. 3:18; Hosea 1:11) They will be the cleansed people of God (37:23) David will be their King (37:24-25; cf. Acts 2:29-36; Luke 1:32-33) Jeremiah 3:18 "In those days the house of Judah shall walk with the house of Israel, and they shall come together out of the land of the north to the land that I have given as an inheritance to your fathers. Hosea 1:11 Then the children of Judah and the children of Israel Shall be gathered together, And appoint for themselves one head; And they shall come up out of the land, For great will be the day of Jezreel! Luke 1:32-33 (The angel told Mary) He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Highest; and the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David. 33 And He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of His kingdom there will be no end."

Ezekiel Lessons 20 – Ezekiel 37
Israel and Judah will be United as One The Kingdom and the Covenant will be everlasting, which points to a spiritual fulfillment (37:26-28) What is the “everlasting covenant”? (Hebrews 13:20-21; 8:6-13) What is now the “Israel of God”? (Galatians 6:15-16; Romans 9:6) What is the territory of the Kingdom of the “Son of David”? (Mark 16:15-16; Colossians 1:6, 13; Revelation 1:5) How long will the Kingdom stand? (Isaiah 9:7; Luke 1:33) Where is the sanctuary of God today? (2 Corinthians 6:16) Galatians 6:15-16 For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision avails anything, but a new creation. 16 And as many as walk according to this rule, peace and mercy be upon them, and upon the Israel of God. Romans 9:6 But it is not that the word of God has taken no effect. For they are not all Israel who are of Israel, Mark 16:15-16 And He said to them, "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. 16 He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned. Colossians 1:6 (speaking of the gospel) which has come to you, as it has also in all the world, and is bringing forth fruit, as it is also among you since the day you heard and knew the grace of God in truth; Colossians 1:13 He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love, Revelation 1:5 and from Jesus Christ, the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead, and the ruler over the kings of the earth. To Him who loved us and washed us from our sins in His own blood, Isaiah 9:7 Of the increase of His government and peace There will be no end, Upon the throne of David and over His kingdom, To order it and establish it with judgment and justice From that time forward, even forever. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this. Luke 1:33 And He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of His kingdom there will be no end.“ 2 Corinthians 6:16 And what agreement has the temple of God with idols? For you are the temple of the living God. As God has said: "I WILL DWELL IN THEM AND WALK AMONG THEM. I WILL BE THEIR GOD, AND THEY SHALL BE MY PEOPLE."
