Language Arts and Reading- The spelling phonics skill is r controlled vowels er, ir, and ur. The skills we will focus on are main idea, summarizing, alliteration, antonyms, inflectional endings –er and –est, and nouns/adjectives. Also, we will be doing holiday themed writing.
We will have spelling and vocabulary test.
Math- We will begin Unit 7. Unit 7 focuses on subtraction of two digit numbers with regrouping. This will be the only unit we will completed before Christmas break. This unit will take us around eleven school days. I am sending home the homework, doing one lesson a day of homework will keep you on track with the class.

Health- Systems of the Body and Five Senses
I hope that everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday. The next four weeks of school go by very quickly and are very busy. I understand this is a very busy time of year, but we will continue on with our curriculums. It is very important to study spelling and vocabulary every single night. I’ve noticed grades that are falling. Please remember that spelling and vocabulary count for half of your child’s Reading and Language Arts weekly average.
Please continue to look for schedule updates for this month. We will be adding new things to the calendar as we are told. There will also be more notes coming home from the office about several other activities.
If anyone would like to donate a piñata for our Mexico unit of Christmas Around the World, we would be very grateful.  We would need this on or before December 8th. If you would like to donate one, please me or send me a note.
Students need 10 points between November 13th – December 15th with an 80% average for the 3nd 6 week prize. Second grade students must have 35 points and an 80% average for the Fall Party before December 15th.
