Miss Lusker’s Class News
A Note From Miss Lusker: What’s Happening This Week: August 28,2017 Another week is upon us and we have a lot of events coming! Students who attend skate country night will receive a homework pass when they get there! Please continue to check your child’s agenda for homework assignments and upcoming test days. Also, there is no school on September 4th! If everything goes according to plan here is what the following test schedule will look like: Friday, September 1st: Fact Drill (3rd grade- 0’s and 1’s; 4th grade- 0’s-3’s multiplication AND division… ask your child about my multiplication challenge, an incentive to learn their facts!) Wednesday, September 6th: 4th grade weathering and erosion test Tuesday, September 12th: 3rd and 4th grade end of the unit test (common assessment 1) Wednesday, September 13th- 3rd and 4th grade end of the unit test (common assessment 1) Please check your child’s agenda and green take home folder daily. Thanks to everyone who has been initialing their child’s agenda! We greatly appreciate that. Thanks to everyone who came out to Chick-Fil-A spirit night last week. I loved seeing students outside of school! I’m still waiting to find out which homeroom teacher won, fingers crossed! Early release is on Wednesday, August 30th. Students will start dismissing form school at 12:50 pm. Skate Country Night on Wednesday, August 30th from 6-8 pm Both my third and fourth graders will take their first fact drill this Friday. Please make sure your child is studying at least 10 minutes each night. They will know which facts to study if they listen in class. ;) Shout out to Jonathan Rollins and Landon Landry for being our “Leaders of the Week” last week. They demonstrated excellent leadership, listening, academic skills. A Peek At What We Are Learning Morning Meeting: This week, students will be learning the difference between being “proactive” and “reactive” and will discuss the difference between being a boss and being a leader. 3rd Math: Our focus this week will be solving and writing multiplication story problems. We will also be practicing turning questions into statements (Ex: How many pieces of chocolate does Miss Lusker have? Miss Lusker has _____ pieces of chocolate). Please be on the lookout for homework. 3rd Science: Vocabulary and “hot topics” this week: motion, position, distance, speed, velocity, forces 4th Math: Our focus this week will be comparing numbers based on their value and adding and subtracting up to the ten thousands place. Please be on the lookout for homework. 4th Science: Review from last week’s experiment. We will continue our weathering and erosion unit and will tie in writing this week! Homework: 3rd Grade: Monday- word problems in notebook and study facts, Every Night- study facts 10 minutes 4th Grade: Monday- addition and subtraction problems in notebook and study facts, Thursday- comparing numbers worksheet and study facts
