October 29-November 2, 2018 Math This week, we will start on long division. Students will need to understand the relationship between multiplication and division. Students will also be responsible for dividing using equations, rectangular arrays, and/or area models. CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.4.NBT.B.6 Find whole-number quotients and remainders with up to four-digit dividends and one-digit divisors, using strategies based on place value, the properties of operations, and/or the relationship between multiplication and division. Illustrate and explain the calculation by using equations, rectangular arrays, and/or area models. CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.4.OA.A.2 Multiply or divide to solve word problems involving multiplicative comparison, e.g., by using drawings and equations with a symbol for the unknown number to represent the problem, distinguishing multiplicative comparison from additive comparison. Science We will continue our unit over body systems. This week, we will work on our body system group projects. Students will be broken into groups and create a presentation on either the respiratory system, nervous system, or circulatory system. Language Arts Our novel study , “Because of Winn Dixie” will began this week =). We will cover, in depth, Chapters 1-4. Continuing from last week is the focus on the 5 different types of text structure. We will complete the text structure flipbook and review cause/effect, compare/contrast and order and sequence. This week, our primary focus will be problem/solution and description. We will begin studying informative writings and how to imagine, plan, and structure these types of writings. Social Studies We are beginning Chapter 3: Struggle in North America. This week, we will focus in on The French and Indian War (Lesson 1). Please study the below vocabulary words throughout the week: Rival-someone who competes with another to achieve the same goal.
