4 Home/School Communication
At Summit we encourage and welcome communication from parents. s are a great way to keep in touch with us! If you are calling the classroom, during the day, your call will be forwarded into the classroom’s voice mail. Teachers and/or other staff members will contact you before or after school.

5 Annual Review Process CPSE/CSE Meetings
2 scheduled meetings per year, with parents CPSE/CSE Meeting, with District and Summit Staff. The purpose of this meeting is to develop and approve a new Individualized Education Plan (IEP). Summit staff strongly encourages parents to attend this meeting as it a mandated meeting. Parent/Teacher Conference, with Summit Staff - informal meeting with your child’s teacher to discuss progress within the classroom and to share information from a home/school perspective.

6 Annual Review Process CPSE/CSE Meetings
If your child’s CPSE/CSE Meeting is taking place in the Fall, 2018…..the Parent/Teacher Conference will be held in the Spring, 2019 If your child’s CPSE/CSE Meeting is taking place in the Spring, 2019….the Parent/Teacher Conference will be held in the Fall, 2018 Of course…..you may request additional meetings with your child’s teacher, as needed throughout the year.

7 Allergies ‘Allergy Sensitive’ signs throughout the school
Summit is an ‘Allergy Sensitive’ School What does this mean? ‘Allergy Sensitive’ signs throughout the school Training for ALL staff on allergy safety and Epi-pen administration Individual signs both inside and outside the classrooms for students with life-threatening allergies Allergy Alert Labels on student information binders and lockers

8 Allergies Allergy Alert Back-Packs for Rotation Students
RED table in the cafeteria Peanut Butter Replacement (Sun Butter) – no peanut butter is used within Summit Center or Creekside locations – ADL or Cafeteria Lesson plans for student to be advocates for their own allergies Allergy Alerts on our central attendance system, per individual student

9 Allergy Field Trip Backpacks Contents
Emergency ‘Blue’ Cards (with a RED card for student with known life- threatening allergies) Copy of ‘Anaphylaxis Emergency Plan’ for student/s with allergies Bio bags (RED) for lunches of children who have severe allergies RED plastic table cloth and/or placemats Hand sanitizer Epi – Pen Epi-Pen Training Handout Gloves

10 Emergency Phone Numbers Health Policy
In the event of an emergency, please ensure that we have working emergency phone numbers on file. Please pay particular attention to the “Illness” section in the Parent Handbook.

Parent Working Group Any Summit parent can join ! Meet the second Wednesday of every month from 9:00-10:30am at Summit Central. You can come once or come every month! Contact Kim Brown in Development at THE FIRST MEETING IS WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 10TH.

7 regularly rotating classrooms in 2 groups 6:1:3 classrooms- 3 rotations (life skills, social/leisure, vocational/academics) 8:1:3 and 12:1:3 classrooms- 4 rotations (life skills, social/leisure, vocational, academics) Staff support homeroom students by transitioning with them

14 Rotation Model Focus is on preparing students for adulthood
Rotation curriculum is designed to address these specific transition needs All skills selected for instruction are functional in nature, with an emphasis on increasing student independence

17 Student Benefits Curriculum addressing all domains needed for increased independence. Electronic record tracking progress across all years a student is at Summit. Allows for consistency and continuity across years. Early curriculum focuses on learning to learn skills, the development of communication skills and adaptive skills. Secondary curriculum prepare students for the transition to adulthood.
