Why do you think child care professionals should study child development?
8
Written response (left side)
We just viewed and discussed several opinions in these slides; your opinion might be different. Which answer best states your opinion?
9
Written response Support your opinion using a child development fact. (Think of a principle or characteristic from your notes)
10
Written response Extend your response using specific examples of how the principle or characteristic relates to planning children’s learning.
11
Response example: Child care professionals should study child development because when a child acts in a certain way the child care professional should know why it is happening in order to understand how to fix it. For example, knowing that development proceeds at individual rates can help you understand why Susie can’t count as high as Sam even though they are the same age. Everyone is different means that everyone learns in different ways and at different speeds. Know this principle shows that it’s OK if Susie can’t count as high; she just needs extra help.
