2 General Info Defined the Constitutional rights of students in US public schools Created the Tinker Test which is used by courts today to determine whether a school’s disciplinary actions violate student’s 1st and 14th Amendment Rights Argued: November 12, 1968 Decided: February 24, 1969 Constitutional issue: Freedom of Speech

3 The Story The school soon found out about these wristbands and the principle Captain Hooke demanded Tinker Bell and Peter Pan to remove them because he believed they would cause a rebellion. Around Christmas time, Tinker Bell and her friend Peter Pan decided to protest the Vietnam War by wearing black wristbands to school.

4 This angered Peter Pan and Tinker Bell, so they refused to remove them.
Captain Hooke suspended Peter and Tinker Bell until after New Years Day.
