Presentation on theme: "Red Letter Christians OR Real Christians?"— Presentation transcript:

1 Red Letter Christians OR Real Christians?
“Red Letter Christians” is an influential movement among American evangelicals. They focus on applying just the teachings of Christ in the gospels to social and political issues. But the red letters of the gospels actually focus on personal commitment to God and His standard of righteousness. More importantly, the red letters teach us that the black letters written by the apostles are equally the words of Christ. We must follow all of His words if we are to be real Christians! Red Letter Christians OR Real Christians?

2 The Focus of the Red Letters: Social Justice or Personal Righteousness?
The RED LETTERS teach that Jesus’ kingdom is not of this world (John 18:36; Lk. 17:20-21) The RED LETTERS teach that issues of social justice and politics are of far less importance than a personal commitment to God and His righteousness (John 8:2-11; Matt. 22:17-22; 19:4-5; John 12:8)

3 What do the Red Letters say about the Black Letters?
The RED LETTERS say that they do not contain “all truth.” (John 16:12-13; 20:21-22; Acts 2:4) The RED LETTERS teach that the apostles would be given words from Jesus (John 16:14-15; 1 Cor. 2:7-13; 14:37; Eph. 3:3-5; 1 Peter 1:12; Timothy 3:16-17 ) The epistles are Jesus’ words! (Colossians 1:25-27; Galatians 4:19; 1 Corinthians 14:37)

4 What will be our standard in the Judgment
What will be our standard in the Judgment? Red Letters, Black Letters, or all the letters of the New Testament? John 12:48-49 “He who rejects Me, and does not receive My words, has that which judges him— the word that I have spoken will judge him in the last day.” Romans 2:16 “In the day when God will judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ, according to my gospel.”
