Objectives of the Conference
Present the draft water accounting handbook Seek users’ endorsement of the SEEAW as THE hydrological framework for IWRM Promote the SEEAW implementation Establish a Roundtable on Water Accounting under the auspices of the UNCEEA

Main conclusions The Conference:
Endorsed the SEEAW as THE hydrological-economic framework for IWRM Recommended it become a statistical standard Recognized that SEEAW fills a vacuum by developing a conceptual framework for water Recognized the timeliness of the handbook Stressed that SEEAW focuses the improvement of basic data by allowing the identification of data gaps and overlaps

Link with the economic system Mainstream of water in economic decision-making Evaluation of trade-offs and priorities between different policies Integrated analyses vs sectoral analyses Developed by NSOs Rigour, reliability, independence, consistency and regularity

Main conclusions (3) SEEAW as a framework for deriving indicators – majority of WWDR indicators can be derived from SEEAW SEEAW can improve inter-institutional cooperation
