1 The Sixth Trumpet Judgement Revelation 9:12-21
Dr. Michael D. Wedman

2 Review – the fifth trumpet
Locusts from the abyss A demonic plague upon the earth There are no deaths upon the earth The plague does not affect those who are sealed by God.

3 The Sixth Trumpet, the Second Woe
The voice coming from the golden altar See Rev 8:3-5; 6:9-11; 16:7 This is the altar of incense where the prayers of the saints go up to God

4 The Sixth Trumpet, the Second Woe
The four angels who are bound at the river Euphrates are released. Background: Gen 15:18; Deut 11:22-24; Josh 1:3-4 Assyrians and Babylonians are pictured as the Euphrates overflowing its banks into Israel Isa 8:5-8

5 The Sixth Trumpet, the Second Woe
A picture of the Parthians during early Roman times

6 The Sixth Trumpet, the Second Woe
The sixth angel releases the four angels who are bound at the river Euphrates The four angels are release the horde of horsemen they kill 1/3 of mankind

7 The Demonic Hordes They have been prepared and ready for a certain time and place. They are under the control of God’s sovereignty Note the difference between the creation/destruction stories of the ancient Near East See also the Exodus story Rev 16:9

8 The Demonic Hordes 2 hundred million troops.
Could also be symbolic of an innumerable number 1/3 of mankind to be killed Note, during the 4th seal ¼ of mankind was killed Question: Will this affect those sealed by God? See 9:4, (these plagues)

9 The Demonic Hordes The breastplates on the horses were fiery red, dark blue, and yellow as sulfur Symbolic of smoke and fire Seems to suggest demonic hordes Out of their mouths came fire, smoke, and sulfur Another indication of demonic activity They had heads like a lion

10 The Demonic Hordes The power of the hordes is in the horses, not in the riders. Habakkuk describes the hordes of the Babylonians as leopards and wolves Hab 1:5-8

11 The Purpose of God’s Judgements
God presents Himself to a world that does not believe that He exists or exists with any type of power Similar to Exodus God still desires repentance – there is still a chance to come unto salvation!

12 Conclusion/Summary God is in control of the universe and will make that plain during the Great Tribulation There will be no denying that God exists and is in control. Mankind will continue to refuse Christ. Hearts will be extremely hard toward God
