Ottoman Empire Ottoman empire lasted from 1299-1922
At one time it was one of the largest and most powerful empires in the world.

Armenians Two million Armenians lived in the Ottoman Empire
The Armenians became Christian in 301 AD. The rest of the Ottoman Empire was Muslim.

The “Young Turks” In 1908 a group of militants took control of the country. These rebels were known as the “Young Turks.” They wanted the Ottoman Empire to be exclusively Muslim. For this to happen, they had to get rid of the Armenians.

Genocide Between 1915 and 1923 at least 1.5 million Armenians were killed in the Ottoman empire. Many were slaughtered. Many were driven to the desert to starve and die of thirst. Many came to Fresno. The Turkish government refuses to admit that a Genocide occurred to this day.
