6 Roe v Wade 1973 Making it legal to assist a woman’s decision to have a abortion. Question at hand was “Does the Constitution embrace the right of a woman to obtain an abortion, nullifying the Texas prohibition?” Ruling over all was under the 14th amendment women were allowed to have abortions/be pro choice Under state regulation. Later was changed making it where women couldn’t be into their 3rd trimester(46 states followed ruling)

8 Game-changer Prohibits discrimination in school sports.(Race, sex and gender) Not just about sports Gov. wouldn’t fund any school that showed discrimination in any extracurricular activities. Although this was a huge step forward for women’s right movement females still lagged in sports. “quotas” : certains amount of slots “must show the schools is”TRYING” to expand opportunities for female athletes. Title IX doesn’t mean male teams must be cut down. Men get 36% more scholarships than woman. Colleges have 53% female students Only 43% of athletes are female. Title IX

9 “Instructions were given to the girls who took part in the fall tennis program and several of the girls went on to compete in scheduled meets with other schools in the Big Nine Conference. Volleyball and basketball provided recreational activity for interested girls during the winter season. These girls were given the opportunity to participate in ‘playdays’ where they competed against other area schools.” Title IX
