2 Step #1 Seated partner: Standing partner:
Place his/her hands under the edge of the table Apply gentle upward pressure Standing partner: Feel the front and back of the person’s arm (bicep/ triceps)

3 Step #2 Seated partner: Standing partner:
Put hands on top of the table and push downward Standing partner: Feel the front and back of your partner’s arm (bicep/ triceps) 2. How did your partner’s bicep and tricep feel when pushing down?

4 Step #3 Switch positions and repeat steps 1 and 2

5 Step #1 (after partners switch)
Seated partner: Place his/her hands under the edge of the table Apply gentle upward pressure Standing partner: Feel the front and back of the person’s arm (bicep/ triceps)

6 Step #2 (after partners switch)
Seated partner: Put hands on top of the table and push downward Standing partner: Feel the front and back of your partner’s arm (bicep/ triceps) 3. Based on these observations, how do you think the muscles in your arm work?

Voluntary: Choose for it to happen or under your control Involuntary: It happens without you choosing or thinking about it

8 3 Types of Muscle Cardiac muscle: Found only in the heart
Function = pumps blood through the body Involuntary (works without your control)

9 3 Types of Muscle Skeletal muscle: Attached to skeleton
Function = moves bones Voluntary (under your control)

10 3 Types of Muscle Smooth muscle:
Found in blood vessels and parts of the digestive system Function = moves food and blood Involuntary (works without your control)

12 Where are muscles found?
Draw a person (NO STICK PEOPLE). Label at least 3 parts that are made of skeletal muscle (Label part and type of muscle) Label at least 3 parts that are made of smooth muscle (Label part and type of muscle) Draw and label where cardiac muscle is found (Label part and type of muscle) ***There should be at least 7 muscles labeled
