3 What is Algebra 2? Algebra 2 continues students’ study of advanced algebraic concepts including functions, polynomials, rational expressions, systems of functions and inequalities, and matrices. Students will be expected to describe and translate among graphic, algebraic, numeric, tabular, and verbal representations of relations and use those representations to solve problems. Emphasis should be placed on practical applications and modeling. **We recommend honors level geometry for students who earned an A or B in Algebra 1. However, regardless of your grade in Algebra 1, you must be willing to put in the extra effort and have a strong work ethic, to achieve grades you are used to. **

4 Classroom Expectations:
RESPECT yourself, others, and your school at all times Take responsibility for your learning and your actions Be physically and mentally prepared for class (have supplies, be on time, be attentive and cooperative) Consume food and beverages in the cafeteria only Comply with all KHS and Wake County policies ** We will be following the school policy of 3 strikes your out. **Electronic devices will be conficated at all times. I will follow the “Bag it and Tag It” policy.

Dividers – Mandatory Pencils Recommended: TI-83 or TI-84 graphing calculator

6 Grading Quarter Grades: Tests: 50% Quizzes: 25% Class work: 15%
Homework: 10% Semester Grades: 1st Quarter: 40% 2nd Quarter: 40% Final Exam: 20% Final Exam will be a STATE test this year. A “Measure of Student Learning” Tests: at the end of each unit Projects: 4 this semester, 2 each quarter Quizzes: most units will have 1 quiz Class Work: 2-5 times per week Homework: NIGHTLY

7 Make – Up Work You are out = YOUR RESPONSIBLILITY to get make-up work. Get class notes from a neighbor or from the website Tutorials Tuesday afternoons 3:15-4:45, must stay for entire time unless I have spoken with your parent or you have another scheduled after-school activity. Room 2622

8 Complete worksheet as a group.
Have groups work on Investigation for translations before formulizing the rules.

9 Homework Complete the Practice for lesson 12.2
