2. Author
William Blake wrote “The Tyger”. From an early age Blake was very religious. His religious beliefs are very present in his writings and are apparent in the two poems we read of his.

3. Theme
The poem is showing some aspects of religion, questioning creation/the creator, the mystery of good and evil, and fear.

4. Synopsis
The poem questions the creation and the creator of the tyger. Asking where, how, and by whom it was made. Also he asks how the creator of the gentle lamb also made the dark tyger. Blake tries to offer suggestions to his own questions, but in the end he never comes to a distinct answer.

“The Tyger” uses a lot of dark and ominous language.
Ideas?
Questions the creator, the process of creation, origin, and how the tiger could be related to the lamb.
Tone?
Inquisitive, dark, ominous, and powerful.

6. How is the tiger related to/ compared to the lamb
They both have the same creator
The lamb is a sign of good while the tiger is evil

The lamb is weak and small and the tiger is a strong predator

7. Comparisons
The Tiger is compared to Blake’s personal philosophy of spiritual and intellectual revolution by individuals. As well as being compared to strength and fire.
For Example, “What immortal hand or eye/Could frame thy fearful symmetry” means what hands created you and how could they create something with such a ferocious appearance.

8. What Questions does the Speaker have about the tiger’s Creator?
The Speaker in the poem is puzzled by seeing the tiger out at night and he continues to question the tiger about how,who,what and where it was created as well as its fierce appearance.
Also if the creator was pleased with what he had created.
