THE VALUE OF OUR SALVATION
Sunday Sermon 06/09/2015

Value The value we place on our salvation directly correlates with the amount of strength we put fighting against sin Matt 16:26- the value of the soul is much greater than the value of the whole world. God sent his son to die for the salvation of the souls of men God has set a higher price on the soul than the whole world Jesus Christ, God’s beloved son from His bosom come down too the earth to die for the salvation.

Value Jesus was given to be cruelly killed and tormented for the salvation of the soul Surely the soul must be very precious! The price was the life of the son of God Would any man give up his son for anything but what is very precious?

What is this Soul of Man? (Gen 1:26) Man is a triune because he was created in the image of God. (2 Cor 13:14) God is a trinity – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (see Matt 28:19) Created in the image of God-man is likewise a trinity (1 Thess 5:23) we exist in Spirit, Soul, and body; also (see Heb 4:12) the word of God is sharper … dividing the soul from spirit, and joint and marrow

The Soul The trinity of man is an essential part of the image relationship between man and God. Neither the body in itself, nor the soul in itself, nor the spirit in itself makes the whole man. Man is “Spirit, soul, and body.” The body is what touches the material world by its five senses: sight, smell, hearing, teste, touch. The gates of the soul are: imagination, conscience, memory, and affections. The spirit receives the impressions through the soul; the spiritual faculties of the spirit are: faith, hope, reverence, prayer, and worship.

Regeneration The human spirit requires “the spark of regeneration” before there is understanding of the things of God. Man’s spiritual nature must be renewed before there is a true conception of Godliness. One thing that stands at the door of man’s spirit is “man’s WILL” When the will is surrendered, the Holy Spirit takes up His abode in the spirit of man.

The WILL of man The mystery about the WILL of man is that God chooses not to go against it! God has “allowed” one thing to be greater than Him- the WILL of Man. He has chosen not to violet the will of man- the all powerful God gives man free will He gives man the ability to go against His will (Heb 11:24-26) Moses chose not to be called the son of Pharaoh (Phil 2:13) God is working in us to give us the ability to obey Him. We are however free to resist Him!

Man’s WILL Although God chooses to limit His power to let mankind rebel against Him A day comes when He will say enough is enough On that day, every knee will bow and confess Him a Lord.

Submissive Will When man’s will is according to God’s will- the power is great and limitless Paul says in (Phil 4:13) I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. (Luke 1:37) for with God nothing shall be impossible. We can choose to limit God by our free will or we can experience all God has for us by submitting our will to Him. It is a matter of choice- God gives us the choice. No one makes you sin; it’s a matter of choice!

The WILL of Christ (Matt 26:39-42) Jesus Christ chose to die on the cross He prayed, “if it is possible let this cup pass from me, yet NOT as I will but as you will Vs 42- “My Father, if this cannot pass away unless I drink it, your will be done.

Celebrating the WILL of Christ
(Luke 22:19) “this is my body which is given for you: do this in remembrance of me Eating a piece of bread reminds us of the WILL of Jesus to do God’s will by dying to pay the price of the salvation of our souls (Heb 9: 18-28) when we drink a small amount of the grape juice at the Lords supper, we remember that Jesus was WILLING to shed His blood for us. The blood signifies the new covenant. (I Cor 11:22) For whenever you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lords death until He comes The Lords supper looks back to the death of Jesus Christ on the cross to pay the valuable price of the saving of our souls
