Employs 3,000,000 people – 8% of the working population 232,000 jobs to be created in the next five years (2016 – 2020) Industry predominately made up of small companies The average year olds in construction earn £15,145 – compared with an average of £9,594 in other industries Bullet point 1 - Three million people is nearly double the population of the UK’s second largest city, Birmingham.
