3 The Classroom Environment
The Classroom is divided into curriculum areas. Indoor and Outdoor activities include all areas of learning Sheltered area Both Reception and Year 1 have access to all areas.

10 Timetables Reception learn through guided sessions and Continuous Provision. January 50% guided, 50% Continuous Provision Transition towards 80% guided work, 20% Continuous Provision by the end of the year. Year 1 are taught through guided sessions but have access to Continuous Provision activities after they have completed work

11 Guided Reading Scheme During these sessions children are taught how to read They are introduced to reading strategies and encouraged to use their knowledge of sounds learnt during Phonics sessions.

12 Home Reading Scheme Home readers are to be used at home only.
If we have additional parent help then the children will sometimes be heard during the school day. This reading is extra and not regular.

13 Phonics Scheme Phonics sessions are daily.
The Phonics is divided into 6 clear stages and is national. Overviews of these stages can be made available if requested.

15 Phonics Y1 Statutory Tests
Take place in June. All children in Year 1 will take the test. The test has a threshold score of 32/40 If the child does not pass they sit the test again in June of Y2 Test contains real and non words

16 Assessments Year 1 – individual levels given by Mrs. Livesey.
FSPs – Foundation Stage Profiles. Children are assessed daily during their work and play. Observations are made and objectives awarded if necessary.

18 Using the pebbles, sand and water Reception created their own beach
Using the pebbles, sand and water Reception created their own beach. This was built upon and adapted every day for over a week!

19 The transport of materials featured highly in the formation of the beach and reflected the work we had previously completed during our ‘Building’ topic.
