3 Main Idea: Western economy pressure forces China to open to foreign trade and influence.
Why it Matters: China is becoming an increasingly important member of the global community.

Colonizer – promotes imperialism in parts of the world like Africa, Asia, and South America. Businessmen, empire builders, military leaders, and churchgoers are included in this group. Colonized – does not agree with the practice of imperialism. Understands the negative effects of controlling a distant territory. Unfair wages, slavery, and unfair trade are key points of this group.
