SENTENCES THAT USE SUBORDINATING CONJUNCTIONS When you have a subordinate conjunction as the first word of the sentence Since I came in first, I get the first-placed ribbon. USE A COMMA When you have a subordinate conjunction in the middle of the sentence. I get the first-placed ribbon since I came in first. DON’T USE A COMMA
