The main characters Dorian Gray- a handsome and pure-hearted gentleman who promises his soul to maintain his youth forever Basil Hallward- an artist, the author of the portrait Lord Henry "Harry" Wotton- a witty, cynical, hedonistic dandy, bad influence to Dorian Sibyl Vane- Dorian's lover, an actress who commits suicide

Quotations The artist is the creator of beautiful things. To reveal art and conceal the artist is art's aim. All art is quite useless Beauty is a form of genius- is higher, indeed, than genius, as it needs no explanation. The books that the world calls immoral are books that show the world it's own shame. Experience was of no ethical value. It was merely the name men gave to their mistakes Each time that one loves is the only time one has ever loved.
