East: Location: Atlantic Coast Shelter: wigwams, chickees, log homes- all permanent Natural Resources- wood, corn husks and cobs Food: corn, beans, squash, yams, deer, rabbits Practices: everything has a spirit Ceremony for animals after use Animals used for sacrifices Women held honor but men still made important decisions.

West: Location: NW, SW, Pacific Coast Shelter: Pueblos – made of clay – permanent home Natural Resources: clay(dirt), sandstone, adobe (clay), water, cotton Food: chili pepper, squash, beans, maize (corn) fish Practices: religious ceremonies Kiva( underground room) –No women and children Nature and land sacred Totem poles- defined people level in society

Plains: Midwest Shelter: Grasshouse, earth lodge, tepee - Nomad- No Permanent homes Nat. Resources: Bison, wood, grass, dirt Food: Bison Meat Practices: Creator lived in the sun SUN DANCE (4 days) Music and dancing as part of tribal ceremonies Entire family was responsible for raising the children
