10 You have 2 minutes to bullet point as many different words than “scary” to describe this ghost.
The Phantom slowly, gravely, silently approached. When it came near him, Scrooge bent down upon his knee; for in the very air through which this Spirit moved it seemed to scatter gloom and mystery. It was shrouded in a deep black garment, which concealed its head, its face, its form, and left nothing of it visible, save one outstretched hand. But for this, it would have been difficult to detach its figure from the night, and separate it from the darkness by which it surrounded. 0:39 0:38 0:40 0:42 0:43 0:37 0:41 0:35 0:31 0:30 0:32 0:33 0:44 0:34 0:36 0:46 0:54 0:53 0:55 0:56 0:58 0:57 0:52 0:51 0:47 0:29 0:48 0:49 0:50 0:45 0:28 0:08 0:07 0:09 0:10 0:12 0:11 0:06 0:05 End 2:00 0:01 0:02 0:04 0:03 0:13 0:14 0:23 0:22 0:24 0:25 0:27 0:26 0:21 0:20 0:16 0:15 0:17 0:18 0:19 0:59 1:01 1:41 1:40 1:42 1:43 1:45 1:44 1:39 1:38 1:33 1:32 1:34 1:35 1:37 1:36 1:46 1:47 1:56 1:55 1:57 1:58 2:00 1:59 1:54 1:53 1:49 1:48 1:50 1:51 1:52 1:31 1:30 1:10 1:09 1:11 1:12 1:14 1:13 1:08 1:07 1:03 1:02 1:04 1:05 1:06 1:15 1:16 1:25 1:24 1:26 1:27 1:29 1:28 1:23 1:22 1:18 1:17 1:19 1:20 1:21 1:00

12 How does dickens use language to describe the ghost?
Dickens uses a triple of adverbs “slowly, gravely, silently”. This makes the ghost seem very frightening because it is taking its time to approach Scrooge, so it builds tension the longer it takes to get closer to Scrooge. It also shows that the ghost is intimidating because it is not approaching Scrooge in a friendly way. The adverb “silently” makes it even more threatening because it doesn’t have to make a sound to make Scrooge nervous. The silence will make the reader feel uneasy because they don’t know what is about to happen. You will write 2 detailed paragraphs for this question using two different language features. You need to write it in SEA paragraphs STATEMENT: State the language feature Dickens uses EVIDENCE: Give a quote ANALYSE: Go into detail about how it makes the ghost seem frightening, how it makes the reader feel, how it is creating tension
