Company number A Social Enterprise owned by Bournemouth Chamber of Trade and Commerce We will use our funds to promote and educate businesses in CSR Our Directors are unpaid Volunteers

Why now? Spending Cuts mean we need strong charities to support our community and step in where government resources are stretched BREXIT – March 2019 – who knows what effect that could have but supporting local and national businesses will surely help us Developing and supporting employees will improve our productivity, businesses and local economy We have to reduce waste and support Bournemouth Council in becoming leaders in sustainability

Joining Fee There is a small annual award charge to join the scheme if you want to apply for Bronze, Silver or Gold awards Start Ups (under 12 months old) £10 Small Businesses (under 10 employees) £20 Medium Businesses (11 to 100 employees) £100 Large Businesses (over 100 employees) £200 50% of the fee will go to Bournemouth Chamber 50% of the fee will go to CSR Company Both are not for profit organisations run by volunteer Directors

Bronze, Silver and Gold Awards
Bronze = Complete scorecard and commit to making improvements Silver = Average results in all 3 objectives (support for charities, staff and local businesses/sustainability) Gold = Above Average results in all 3 objectives (support for charities, staff and local businesses/sustainability)

CSR is good for everyone and every business
Focusing your business on CSR will actually improve your bottom line because it will Increase customer and brand loyalty as a result of greater community awareness Improve productivity by having a happy and engaged work force with high morale Improve the planet by becoming more sustainable

Promises and Pledges have Failed Businesses need Targets
You wouldn’t run a business without preparing accounts! We need to measure business activity in order to improve it We want as many businesses as possible to participate, not just our members and not just businesses in Bournemouth

Supporting Charities How many days per year do you and your staff spend doing voluntary work? How much have you and your business donated to Charities and Social Enterprises in the last 12 months? How much have your staff donated through payroll giving in the last 12 months? Which Charities has your business supported in the last 12 months? What skills/services can your business offer charities? eg business planning, web assistance, finance, bid writing etc

Supporting Employees Can your staff have Flexible Working and change their hours to suit their needs by agreement? Can your staff Work from Home when possible? How do you deal with Stress and Mental Health in the workplace? How does your business demonstrate equality and fair pay for its employees?

What % of your business costs are spent with suppliers in your Town? What % of your business costs are spent with suppliers in your County? What % of your business costs are spent with suppliers in the UK?

Supporting the environment & cutting costs
Do you recycle any of your waste? What do you recycle? Describe how you have tried to reduce your carbon footprint eg reduced energy use, vehicle pollution economy-leader/green-audit-service.aspx Are you reducing the use of disposable plastic items? eg cups/straws Do you use Fairtrade products?
