22
For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours, now and forever.
23
That same day two of them were walking to the village Emmaus, about seven miles out of Jerusalem. They were deep in conversation, going over all these things that had happened. In the middle of their talk and questions, Jesus came up and walked along with them. But they were not able to recognize who he was.
24
He asked, “What’s this you’re discussing so intently as you walk along
He asked, “What’s this you’re discussing so intently as you walk along?” They just stood there, long-faced, like they had lost their best friend. Then one of them, his name was Cleopas, said, “Are you the only one in Jerusalem who hasn’t heard what’s happened during the last few days?”He said, “What has happened?”
25
They said, “The things that happened to Jesus the Nazarene
They said, “The things that happened to Jesus the Nazarene. He was a man of God, a prophet, dynamic in work and word, blessed by both God and all the people. Then our high priests and leaders betrayed him, got him sentenced to death, and crucified him. And we had our hopes up that he was the One, the One about to deliver Israel.
26
And it is now the third day since it happened
And it is now the third day since it happened. But now some of our women have completely confused us. Early this morning they were at the tomb and couldn’t find his body. Some of our friends went off to the tomb to check and found it empty just as the women said, but they didn’t see Jesus.”
27
Then he said to them, “So thick-headed. So slow-hearted
Then he said to them, “So thick-headed! So slow-hearted! Why can’t you simply believe all that the prophets said? Don’t you see that these things had to happen, that the Messiah had to suffer and only then enter into his glory?”.
28
Then he started at the beginning, with the Books of Moses, and went on through all the Prophets, pointing out everything in the Scriptures that referred to him.
29
They came to the edge of the village where they were headed
They came to the edge of the village where they were headed. He acted as if he were going on but they pressed him: “Stay and have supper with us. It’s nearly evening; the day is done.” So he went in with them. And here is what happened: He sat down at the table with them.
30
Taking the bread, he blessed and broke and gave it to them
Taking the bread, he blessed and broke and gave it to them. At that moment, open-eyed, wide-eyed, they recognized him. And then he disappeared. The disciples told their story of what happened on the road and how they had recognized Jesus at the breaking of bread.
31
They were still talking about this when Jesus himself stood among them and said, 'Peace be with you!' In a state of alarm and fright, they thought they were seeing a ghost. But Jesus said, ‘Why are you so agitated, and why are these doubts rising in your hearts?
32
Look at my hands and feet; yes, it is I indeed
Look at my hands and feet; yes, it is I indeed. ‘Touch me and see for yourselves; a ghost has no flesh and bones as you can see I have.' And as Jesus said this he showed them his hands and feet.
33
Their joy was so great that they could not believe it, and they stood dumbfounded; so Jesus said to them, 'Have you anything here to eat?' And they offered Jesus a piece of grilled fish, which he took and ate before their eyes.

He leadeth me: O Blessed thought! O words with heavenly comfort fraugh! Whate’er I do, where’er I be, still ‘tis God’s hand that leadeth me.
45
He leadeth me. He leadeth me. By his own hand he leadeth me
He leadeth me! He leadeth me! By his own hand he leadeth me! His faithful follower I would be, for by his hand he leadeth me!
46
Sometimes ‘mid scenes of deepest gloom, sometimes where Eden’s bowers bloom, by waters calm, o’er troubled sea, still ‘tis his hand that leadeth me.
47
He leadeth me. He leadeth me. By his own hand he leadeth me
He leadeth me! He leadeth me! By his own hand he leadeth me! His faithful follower I would be, for by his hand he leadeth me!
48
Lord, I would clasp thy hand in mine, nor ever murmur nor repine, content, whatever lot I see, since ‘tis my God that leadeth me.
49
He leadeth me. He leadeth me. By his own hand he leadeth me
He leadeth me! He leadeth me! By his own hand he leadeth me! His faithful follower I would be, for by his hand he leadeth me!
50
And when my task on earth is done, when by thy grace the victory’s won, even death’s cold wave I will not flee, since God through Jordan leadeth me.
51
He leadeth me. He leadeth me. By his own hand he leadeth me
He leadeth me! He leadeth me! By his own hand he leadeth me! His faithful follower I would be, for by his hand he leadeth me!
