5 List some factors that caused a “quiet depression” for farmers.
Farmers borrowed money to meet food demands in Europe from WW I. European demand declined due to improved conditions, lack of money, higher American taxes. President Coolidge vetoed bills that would have helped farmers get rid of their surplus crops.
