5/17/2018 Gaining Momentum Enrollment Growth approaching 11% in the Spring semester, with increasing 2YC and non-traditional students A number of new programs has expanded the number of resident faculty and faculty types on our campus Leavenworth Campus provides an opportunity to expand our offerings to a unique military audience with differing timelines and demands

5/17/2018 OUR LEARNING EXPERIENCE: RESEARCH Balancing workforce focused programs and teaching faculty within a research-focused university. RECOGNITION Moving toward a more inclusive “all faculty” climate and culture. ONBOARDING Addressing the gap in onboarding for part-time lecturers in need of basic classroom skills and resources. ACCESS Recognizing and offering access to meet the needs of part-time faculty.

New Faculty Orientation
5/17/2018 What We Offer New Faculty Orientation Moved to an evening session with light dinner that will allow access to most of whom we attract as faculty. Developed a comprehensive faculty handbook to highlight necessary policy, how to access resources, and example canned syllabus language. Embed Faculty Development into orientation to cover classroom management, new technologies, and pedagogy.

Faculty Development What We Offer
5/17/2018 What We Offer Faculty Development Lunch & Learn sessions with light snacks. This is an effective time to reach resident faculty. Added distance connections to increase access to those who can participate remotely. Relevant content developed from faculty feedback with primary focus on needs and interest of teaching faculty. Topics include everything from LMS tools, instructional strategies, alternative course delivery, and emerging trends in Higher Ed. Building academic community amongst faculty through annual Faculty Convocation.

5/17/2018 What We Offer Faculty Growth & Succession Training Creation and Implementation of an Academic Program Leader Academy. We focus on developing leadership, administrative, and supervisory skills. Addresses the challenges of managing an academic program from a distance, with governance residing on the main campus. To provide community and development opportunities for “lone wolf” faculty. Build the next group of administrative leaders for the campus.

5/17/2018 WHERE WE’RE HEADED DISTANCE: Working diligently to increase engagement of distance learners, streamed offerings by partner departments, and access to recorded offerings. DEVELOPMENT: We’re actively working with several campus departments to develop a Master Teacher program with focus on part-time faculty needs. DIRECTION: Working collaboratively with key departments across all campuses that are critical to our growth and success: Vice Provost for Faculty Development Center for Teaching Excellence Center for Online and Distance Learning
