3 Overview Business Problem: Project Goals: Desired Project Outcomes:
New Mexico School Grades were delivered to districts and parents in the form of PDF documents. This may have been valuable to administrators but to parents it was extremely complicated. A more “parent-friendly and more widely accessible” format was required to distribute school grades and accountability information. Project Goals: Provide interactive tools that deliver meaningful and actionable school performance information to increase parent, family and community engagement in schools across the state. Make school grading information accessible in the three most prevalent home languages; English, Spanish, Navajo Desired Project Outcomes: Implement a Parent Dashboard, and Language Sensitive Videos to implement new ways to disseminate information about school grades to parents

7 Press Release – Oct 30th NEWS RELEASE
For Immediate Release: October 30, 2018 New Mexico Launches NMSchoolGrades.com--the State’s First-Ever Interactive School Performance Website For Parents & Families After traveling the state and listening to stakeholders for two years, New Mexico delivers on another promise to families based upon their input Albuquerque, NM – Today, the New Mexico Public Education Department (NMPED) announced the launch of the state’s first-ever online portal to help parents and families better access their school grades. NMPED worked with parents and families from across New Mexico to create NMschoolgrades.com—an interactive website filled with information on how schools are serving their students. “When families visit their school’s report card online, they will be able to find a deeper level of information - that is easy to understand - than ever before. One of the most unique and groundbreaking aspects is incorporating videos into the reports, so that Spanish speaking parents have access to the report in their native language,” said Jacki Ball of the National Parent Teacher Association (PTA). “New Mexico is a model for the rest of the country - we applaud the state for doing such an incredible job of authentically engaging families in developing this resource with communities around the state.” “This site puts critical information in the hands of those who need it most and provides parents and families information that makes them the navigators of their children’s education,” said Amanda Aragon, Executive Director, NewMexicoKidsCAN. “We live in a data-rich world, but this data rarely finds its way to the people who need it most. From our Roundhouse to our classrooms, performance data makes a huge difference if it’s accessible, relevant and user-friendly. This is especially true when it comes to student learning and how well our schools are using their resources to create great educational experiences for every kid, which is why NMSchoolGrades.com is such a great resource for our community.”
