There are 2 license types to SAP Crystal Server – named user licenses and concurrent access licenses.
We do not offer CPU licenses – this is what makes SAP Crystal Reports Server ideal for virtualization and extranet scenarios.
1) Named user licenses are for managers and staff that require guaranteed access to reports and dashboards. Each individual that is setup with a named user license is guaranteed access to the system.
2) Concurrent access licenses are for casual reporting users and extranet users. Individuals with CAL licenses can logon to the system as long as there is a CAL license available. Once the system maximum CAL license is reached, then no more logons are permitted until a user logs off.
In general, all features are available for all users with a couple of exceptions:
Data driven publishing is included in CAL licenses, but is available only as an optional add-on for NUL licenses.
Dashboard viewing and Data Exploration is only available only with NUL licenses.
Report design and dashboard design tool licenses are not included with SAP Crystal Server and are purchased separately. We recommend SAP Crystal Reports and SAP Crystal Dashboard Design, departmental edition for designing reports and dashboards. SAP Crystal Reports Server NUL licenses include the viewing licenses necessary to view dashboards, so no additional viewing license purchase is required.
