1
Bernoulli’s Principle
2
Objects move from high pressure to low pressure
3
What examples of this can you think of?
6
Pressure differences create a force which accelerates a fluid
7
Bernoulli’s Principle
If speed of fluid is low, pressure is high If speed of fluid is high, pressure is low
8
Narrow sections of pipe lead to lower pressure and higher speeds
9
Applications: Air Plane Wing
Two reasons for lift: Upward force from air hitting wing Lower pressure due to quicker moving air over wing (low pressure) and slower moving air under the wing (high pressure)
10
Applications: Carburetor
As the air moves through the venturi, it speeds up This creates a low pressure area and the gas moves from a higher pressure in the gas tank to a lower pressure in the venturi Conclusion: Air and gas are mixed
11
Applications: Spray Can
As the air moves through the plunger, it speeds up This creates a low pressure area and the paint moves from a higher pressure in the paint can to a lower pressure at the top of the tube
