*heat energy from the sun travels in electromagnetic (EM) waves
*ex: heating your hands in front of a fire*

5. CONDUCTION (touch)
*transfer of heat through contact/touching a material
*warm to cold
*heats air near Earth’s surface
*ex: metal spoon gets hot if left in pot of sauce*

6. CONVECTION (due to density)
transfer of heat by circulation/movement of liquid or gas
main way heat is moved around in the atmosphere
convection currents created by warm air rising (less dense) and cool air sinking (denser)
