Research in Practice for Adults
What is evidence-informed practice? Evidence-informed practice combines: academic research along with practice experience, views of people who access services as well as their families and carers Evidence-informed practitioners continuously ask questions about what works search objectively for the best available evidence take appropriate action guided by that evidence. Interactions with people, their and families and carers should be evidence-informed, especially in terms of decision making. This includes day to day ‘bread and butter’ work, assessment, support planning, review as well as more complex work like safeguarding, MCA, DoLS etc. It also applies to strategic side of things e.g. development of support or services, evaluation or review, and actual delivery of support or services.
