Paleolithic Age- earliest period in human history. 2,500,000 to 10,000 B.C.
Archaeology- study of past society through artifacts
Hunters and gatherers- tools developed during this time include spears, bows and arrows, harpoons and fishhooks.
Nomads- people who move from place to place

Technology- ability of human beings to make things that sustain and give them control over their environment
Early shelter was in caves.
Fire used for warmth, to cook food, scare wild animals.
Cave art- most images are of animals.

Systematic Agriculture- domestication of animals, planting crops. Food surplus leads to development of trade
Artisans- create items such as jewelry and weapons

Trade leads to specialization and a division of labor.
