Read and annotate Langston Hughes’ four poems.
Note any connections you can make to Gatsby.
Read and annotate the lyrics to the five popular songs from the Harlem Renaissance/Jazz Age.

Highlight or circle lines from each piece that you think reflect ideas about the love between Gatsby and Daisy.

3. Daisy and Gatsby: A Love song – found poetry
Work alone or with one partner.
Create an original poem that uses phrases or lines from the poetry and music.
You should not include any of your own words – everything must be borrowed.
Arrange them and piece them together in a way that paints a picture or makes a clear argument of their relationship.
Once you have a rough draft on your handout – decide on a SHAPE for your poem and create your final drat on white paper. Don’t forget a title!
