Had a son that played in the Canadian Philharmonic Orchestra (Brass Section) Came to Canada in Would not have faced discrimination Considered desirable! Brought his 5 children and wife with him Came to make a better life for his kids and get out of the coal mines Points system: 58 (scored high for age, work experience, adaptability and ability to speak English. Scored lower for education, and arranged employment) British ancestry: favoured by the government during times of war. Would have been viewed as desirable. Collective rights: Speaks English as do the majority of immigrants that come to Canada. This could contribute to a feeling of resentment from official language groups (Francophone) as well as go against the AFN’s resolution (if it had existed back then) that immigrants were using up valuable resources that First Nations people need! Settled first in Thunder Bay, Ontario But later settled in Calgary, Alberta
