Warm-Up Find the value of x: 3x – 5 = 9 – 4x
2
Function ←→ Table ←→ Graph
Graphing Function ←→ Table ←→ Graph
3
Function to Table In order to make a function into a table, create values for x and then PLUG THEM IN! For example… y = -2x + 5 x y -1 7 5 1 3 2
4
Table to Graph Once you have your points listed in the table, graph them (don’t forget to connect the dots). For example… x y -1 7 5 1 3 2
5
Graph to Table Identify some of the points on the graph and place them in your table. For example… x y -1 1 3 5 2 7
6
Table to Function Once you have your table, create a function in slope-intercept form (y = mx + b). In order to do this, you first need to find slope (m), then y-intercept (b). For example… ∆y = 2 ∆x = 1 m = = 2; y = 2x Now that you have m, plug in any value of x and solve b. 5 = 2(1) + b 5 = 2 + b 3 = b; y = 2x + 3
7
Practice Pg. 256, #s 1-5, 7-14 Create a table and graph of the following function: y = 4 3 x + 4 Create a table and function of the following graph: x y -3 4 x -5 y -1 -3 y = − 4 5 𝑥 - 3
