Reporting in vitro fertilization cycles to the Society for Assisted Reproductive Technology database: where have all the cycles gone? David Kulak, M.D., Sangita K. Figure 1 Society for Assisted Reproductive Technology algorithm for calculating success rates. Red: Cycles are seen in CSR as cancelled; they are used in calculation of pregnancy “per cycle” but not “per transfer.” Black: Cycles not seen in CSR and not calculated into pregnancy or LBRs in any way. Green: Cycles are used in calculation of pregnancy “per cycle” and “per transfer” in the fresh and thawed sections, respectively. Figure 2 Reporting trend for outlier clinics vs. all other clinics. Y axis is the mean RP reported in percentages. The mean RP for all clinics has trended down over the last 8 years, but the rate of reduction has been significantly greater in outlier clinics. Figure 3 Correlation of LBR and RP in outlier clinics vs. all other clinics in the year The LBR in the y axis and RP in x axis are both reported as percentages. The correlation between LB and RP in outlier clinics is −0.50 (P=.028); as RPs drop there is a correlation with higher pregnancy rates. There was no significant correlation between LB and RP for all other clinics. Supplemental Figure 1 Trend in RP over time. The graph shows the median RP in a bold line in each box, the box represents the 25th and 75th percentiles, and the error bars represent the 10th and 90th percentiles. There has been a trend toward lower RP. The variation among the clinics has widened, specifically in the 10th to 50th percentiles.
