Warsaw Pact troops ousted Dubcek and restored communist dictator

5. Yugoslavia Josip Tito Set up a communist government in Yugoslavia
Refused to join the Warsaw Pact and claimed to be neutral in the Cold War

6. Poland 1980 - Lech Walesa – shipyard worker who ignited strikes
Solidarity – independent trade union
The Polish government outlawed the union and arrested its leaders, including Walesa
1989 they held free elections and the Solidarity candidates triumphed – Lech Walesa was elected President a year later

7. Romania Nicolae Caausescu Dictator who refused to step down
He was overthrown and executed
