Observation The process of obtaining information using your sense
Sometimes our senses are not good enough for specific observations so we use tools such as: Microscopes Telescopes Scales/ rulers Thermometers

Inference Mental judgements you make based on your observations
NOT observed, more like a conclusion about your observation

Example 1 Observation: A plant is wilted
Inference: The plant must need water

Example 2 Observation: The car stopped running
Inference: The driver forgot to get gas

Example 3 Observation: Ms. Gravette is yelling
Inference: She is upset because students are talking
