By foot from Preston Montford, pass FSC head office and continue through farm yard onto track. From Ford, via public footpath. Site Description: Field Studies Council field centre. Centre buildings and grounds, including fields (some grazed), ponds, woodlands, river bank and lane past neighbouring farm. Name of Site: Preston Montford Farm Lane Grid Reference: SJ Ponds - field pond, raised pond in Exploratorium, and pond between Wenlock and Darwin buildings. Risk of Weil’s disease, banks of ponds can be slippery. River bank – NEEDS to be pre-checked before taking a group. Paths not maintained, are in places steep, can be slippery and periodically flood. Many cracked ancient trees. Sewage system ponds - risk of waterborne disease, some steep banks. Do not go down the steeply sloping woodland down to River Severn. Vehicles in carpark Narrow track used by farm machinery, very muddy in places Vehicle access from B4473 Sheep often grazed in fields Pedestrian access / egress via Ford.
