Month 2002 doc.: IEEE /xxxr0 January 2003 Multicast Queueing (1) Currently, multicast frames are queued in the AP until after the next beacon (or beacon with DTIM) BUT: Some protocols / applications require frequent transmission of multicast frames to non-power saving STAs where it is inappropriate to shorten the beacon interval. (e.g: synchronization frames) Georg Dickmann, BridgeCo AG John Doe, His Company

Month 2002 doc.: IEEE /xxxr0 January 2003 Multicast Queueing (2) Proposal: The AP shall forward multicast frames with TIDs other than 0 immediately subject to the constraints that apply to the AC to which the multicast frame belongs. Georg Dickmann, BridgeCo AG John Doe, His Company

Multicast Address Filtering
Month 2002 doc.: IEEE /xxxr0 January 2003 Multicast Address Filtering Currently, a STA has to filter out MPDUs where the RA is a multicast address and the SA is the STAs own address. However, support of MLME-HL-SYNC requires that a QSTA passes such frames to the higher layer. Georg Dickmann, BridgeCo AG John Doe, His Company

ToDS field in multicast frames
Month 2002 doc.: IEEE /xxxr0 January 2003 ToDS field in multicast frames Currently, the usage of the ToDS field in multicast frames is unclear ( and ). In (1999), the ToDS field could not be set to zero for multicast frames in a BSS. Proposal: Explicitly allow the transmission of multicast frames with the ToDS field set to zero. Georg Dickmann, BridgeCo AG John Doe, His Company

MoreData field in multicast
Month 2002 doc.: IEEE /xxxr0 January 2003 MoreData field in multicast Currently, the MoreData field in multicast frames sent by an AP is zero if no more multicast frames are to be expected in the same beacon interval. Proposal: For nonzero TID values in downstream multicast frames, the meaning of the MoreData field should be identical with its meaning for unicast frames (editorial clarification needed as a consequence of the modified queuing). Georg Dickmann, BridgeCo AG John Doe, His Company
