1. Eclipses
An eclipse occurs when the shadow of one celestial body falls on another.
A lunar eclipse happens when the Earth comes between the sun and the moon
A solar eclipse happens when the moon comes between the Earth and the sun, and the shadow of the moon falls on part of Earth.

2. Solar Eclipse A solar eclipse will occur during the new moon phase.
The moon shades sunlight from the earth. The moon moves between the Sun and the Earth.

3. The moon in the sky appears to be nearly the same size as the sun.
These occur during the day. When the moon blocks the sunlight from the earth, it will look like a night sky.

4. look directly at the sun! You can permanently damage your eyes.

5. Lunar Eclipses A lunar eclipse will occur during the full moon phase.
Luna is the name of the moon. Therefore, a lunar eclipse means the moon is being shaded.

6. Lunar Eclipses
The Earth is what shades the moon from getting sunlight creating a red color.
A lunar eclipse will only occur at night. It will only occur when the moon is directly opposite the Sun (full moon).
