3 Strategies for Annotation
Option 1: Sticky Notes Best for visual learners You will make your annotations on a sticky-note as you read and post it near the passage you are referring to. You are responsible for providing your own sticky-notes. Option 2: Reading Journals Best for big-picture people You will make your annotations in your notebook after you read, reflecting on the section and noting the page you refer to. You will make these annotations under our in-class journal for the day. Strategies for Annotation

4 They say that if you put a frog into a pot of boiling water, it will leap out right away to escape the danger. But, if you put a frog in a kettle that is filled with water that is cool and pleasant, and then you gradually heat the kettle until it starts boiling, the frog will not become aware of the threat until it is too late. The frog's survival instincts are geared towards detecting sudden changes. How do you cook a frog?

5 Consider the metaphor of cooking a frog in relationship to our reading for today. What gradual changes did the Jewish people experience? Putting yourself in their place, when would you have “jumped out of the pot”? Writing Prompt
