2. PRONOUNS A pronoun is a word that is used in place of a noun.
For example, you could say, "Lisa is a nice girl." 
You could replace the noun "Lisa" with the word "She."  "She is a nice girl." 
"She" is a pronoun.
“Lisa is a nice girl.”  “She is a nice girl.”
You could say, "I met Joe and Julie at the store." 
Then you could replace the phrase "Joe and Julie" with the word "them."  "I met them at the store.“
"Them" is a pronoun.
“I met Joe and Julie at the store.”  “I met them at the store.”
More examples: I, he, it, we, them, us, mine, itself.
He doesn't want go with them.
Would they help us?
His house is bigger than ours.
Who is she?

3. There are several different types of pronouns
There are several different types of pronouns. You, Me, and I are all personal pronouns because they all represent people.
There are two kinds of personal pronouns in English: subjective and objective.

4. Subjective Pronouns Objective Pronouns
Subjective pronouns are used as the subject of a sentence.
Ex. "He plays the guitar."
The subjective pronouns are: I, you, he, she, it, we, they, what, who.
We are going home.
Who is working late?
What's happening?
Objective pronouns are used as an object in a sentence.
Ex. "Donna told him the truth.“
The objective pronouns are: me, him, her, it, us, you, them, whom.
I am doing this for you.
Jack was there before us.
Whom did you meet last night?

5. The pronoun “you”
The pronoun you can be a subjective or objective. Subjective
You are smart.
You speak good English!
You speak English well!
Objective
I like you.
She gave the book to you.
They called you last night.

6. I is always the subject of a sentence and Me is always the object of a sentence.
Correct:
I love you.
You love me.
I am happy.
You are happy for me
Incorrect:
Me love you.
You love I.
Me is happy.
You are happy for I.

7. The confusing part
Which form do you use when there are two subjects or objects linked with ”and”?
a. Jim and me/I joined the club.
b. Jill took Justin and me/I to the store.
In sentence a, Jim and me/I are the subjects.
Therefore, I is correct.
In sentence b, Justin and me/I are the objects of took.
Therefore, me is correct.

8. Read these two sentences:
You and I should make dinner. OR You and me should make dinner.
There is an easy way to check: say the sentences without the word you.
I should prepare dinner. OR
Me should prepare dinner.

9. He gave the book to you and I.OR
He gave the book to you and me.
Say the sentences without the word you.
He gave the book to I.
He gave the book to me.
Always place you before me or I. It is respectful to say you before me or I.

10. Between you and I or Between you and me
Between is a preposition, just as on, above, over, and of are prepositions.
Prepositions come before a noun or a pronoun to show its relationship to something else in the sentence.
The noun or pronoun after the preposition is called the object of the preposition.
The object of a preposition is always in the objective case.
The pronoun “me” is in the objective form.
Pronouns following prepositions in those phrases are always in the objective case.
The correct phrase is between you and me.

11. Sandra and _______ are good friends.
Would you like to go to the party with Sandra and _______?
The flowers are for my mom and _______.
Between you and _______, I’m ready for the weekend.
She set the appointment for Sandra and _______.
May Rex and ______ go to lunch with you?
Rex and _______ want to treat you to lunch.

12. Sandra and I are good friends.
Would you like to go to the party with Sandra and me?
The flowers are for my mom and me.
Between you and me, I’m ready for the weekend.
She set the appointment for Sandra and me.
May Rex and I go to lunch with you?
Rex and I want to treat you to lunch.
