1 Current Event Project Due by May 21st

2 Project summary: Outline: Groups of 1-3 (You get to choose )
You will be researching and reporting on a current event involving the U.S. and relating it back to U.S. history topics from our class. Outline: Groups of 1-3 (You get to choose ) Research (At least 8 CREDIBLE sources) Presentation (10 minutes) Discussion (5 minutes)

3 Groups of 1-3 (You get to choose )
You will work together to pick a topic of interest to you and your group (See the handout for a full list of topics) Once you have formed your group you will draw numbers to decide your topic Together you will choose a side of the issue and create and argument statement (AKA a thesis) Fill out the brainstorming outline to get your project started (More on this later)

4 Research (At least 8 CREDIBLE sources)
Two of them must be from alternate views than your group Each groupmate will write a 2 paragraph summary for at least two of the articles 1 supporting your argument, and 1 against it 8 total articles For each article create a list of discussion questions to be answered (Open Ended)

5 Presentation Start your presentation with a visual (Prezi, powerpoint, video, story board, etc.) Be sure to include a list of defined terms (at least 10) Create an 8-10 minute presentation Explain your topic (What is it and why is it important?) Explain both sides of the argument Use the research Connect to US event you’ve learned in class Everyone MUST speak

6 Discussion At the end you will lead a 5 minute discussion on your topic with the whole class using the discussion questions you made from your article summaries They must be open ended Participation points will be given to students who participate in the discussion
