Prerequisites
This course is for graduate students and advanced undergraduate students who plan to finish their master level studies within a year.
Participants must have done their bachelor level studies (or at least 100 old credits), and must have passed the basic courses in data communication such as:
T Introduction to Datacommunications (old courses T Fundamentals of Network Media and T Telecommunications Architectures)
T Computer Networks (old course T Computer Networks)

4. Carrying out the seminar (1/2)
A student will write a seminar paper with the guidance of a tutor according to a given schedule.
Not following the course schedule is interpreted as dropping the course.
There are three paper submissions:
Draft paper, Full paper, Final paper
Students present their paper in a two full day conference (28-29 April). Note that seminar days are compulsory for all students. You must be present in all sessions to pass the course.
Each student must also participates in two scientific writing lectures.

5. Carrying out the seminar (2/2)
Each participant will act as an opponent to a paper of another student of the course.
There are two opponent reports submission:
After the full paper submission.
After the conference

Sign up
Sign up begins after the first meeting – deadline is on Wednesday 23 January at midday.
Signup is done by writing an application which is sent to the course staff (use the course address)

Topic selection
Student chooses 5 topic candidates from the available topics and put those in the application.(You can also propose own topic, but in this case a tutor has to agree instructing you)
Topics are allocated based on the study background (study program and number of credits)
Topics will be allocated based on the following (if there are more students than topics)

Close to graduation

8. Scientific writing course
A short english course is a part of the seminar and it is mandatory for all students.
The course consists of two lectures (in lecture hall T2)
31st January 16-18
28 February 16-18
If you cannot participate in the lectures, you have to do some additional assignments.

Plagiarism is not allowed in any form.
If you have to borrow ideas, texts, pictures or any materials, remember to make the references.
Google and wikipedia are not good references.

You can use previous years T-110 seminar handouts if you wish (sold by Edita)
All submissions are done by using a learning environment called Optima.
In order to use Optima you need to hava a TKK’s computing centre user account and service password.
