I’m BEUTIFUL How I Look The SBV [spiny bush viper] is usually a green olive or blue and brown colors. They have yellow or pale olive bellies with ivory white tails. Brightly colored SBVs [yellow, red and gray] are rarely seen in the wild. Males are 29in [73in] females are 23in [58cm]. The SBV’s scales are pointy and frigid and that’s how it gets its name. SBVs have big heads with large eyes and large mouths. Yum Yum The spiny bush viper is a carnivore [meat eater]. They usually eat rodents, birds, lizards and frogs. Creepy Crawly It slithers and it likes to slither up trees and curl around the branches for comfort. They are usually found in the rainforests since they contain large numbers of flowering bushes. The SBV is mostly found in dense tropical areas where there are a lot of rodents and small animals. 4 How I Live Like all snakes the SBV lays eggs, the shells of the eggs are very leathery. Females give birth to about 12 young at a time. The gestation period lasts about two months. The babies are called juveniles. The juveniles are born venomous and abandoned at birth. The newborns are about 15.cm in total length. A picture of the animal as a baby or young. The SBVs live there whole life's alone. They live to about ten years. Males are more slender than females, the males also have a shorter snout than females. 5 My Animal Skills Their poison is very venomous one bite can end it all. The SBV doesn’t communicate it only attacks when it needs to and hides when it needs to. There predator is the mongoose, it’s a little ferret thingy. 6 Very Interesting New species The SBV is a newly found species.
Deadly toxins The small but deadly SBV has managed to surprise herpetologists because of how toxic it is.
