Fractions A Fraction is ANY number that can be put into the form ,
Where a and b are integers and b cannot be 0. b For the fraction , a and b are call the terms of the fraction. a is the numerator and b is the denominator.
6
A proper fraction is fraction in which the numerator is less than the denominator. If the numerator is greater than the denominator, the fraction is called and improper fraction. Fractions that represent the same number are said to be equivalent. Equivalent fractions may look different, but they must have the same value.
7
Properties Property 1: b and c are not 0
If the numerator and the denominator of a fraction are multiplied by the same non-zero number, the resulting fraction is equivalent to the original fraction. Property 2: b and c are not 0 If the numerator and the denominator of a fraction are divided by the same non-zero number, the resulting fraction is equivalent to the original fraction.

Prime Numbers, Factors and Lowest Terms
A Prime Number is any whole number greater than 1 that has EXACTLY two divisors - itself and 1. (A number that is divisible evenly-(without a remainder)-only by itself and 1) A number is a divisor of another if it divides it without a remainder) A composite number is any whole number that is NOT Prime. A Fraction is said to be in Lowest Terms IF the numerator and denominator have NO factors in common other than 1.
